Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, has reiterated its plans for a major turning point in its next fiscal year. In its recent earnings report, the company announced net bookings of $1.2 billion for the first quarter, which exceeded its expectations.
Net bookings encompass digital and physical sales, as well as other income sources such as licensing fees, merchandise, and in-game ads. Take-Two also restated its prediction of total net bookings between $5.45 and $5.55 billion for the entire fiscal year 2024.
Looking ahead, the publisher once again alluded to its next fiscal year, emphasizing that significant developments are in the pipeline. Take-Two CEO and chairman Strauss Zelnick stated, ‘We remain confident that we are positioning our business for a significant inflection point in fiscal 2025, which we believe will include new record levels of operating performance.’ Zelnick expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and conveyed excitement for the company’s future endeavors.
While not explicitly confirmed, speculations have arisen that Grand Theft Auto 6 may be released during fiscal year 2025 based on these statements. If accurate, this would mean the highly anticipated game could arrive no later than March 2025.
This isn’t the first time Take-Two has hinted at a surge in sales for its next fiscal year. In a previous earnings call, Zelnick referred to fiscal 2025 as ‘a highly anticipated year for our company.’ He expressed confidence in launching groundbreaking titles that would set new standards in the industry and generate over $8 billion in net bookings and more than $1 billion in adjusted unrestricted operating cashflow.
