The long-awaited Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest kicked off in Las Vegas, revealing the game’s upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Set to be released in the summer of 2024, Dawntrail will be the fifth major expansion for Final Fantasy XIV. In a new trailer, Square Enix showcased the expansion’s storyline, promising players a much-needed beach vacation on the tropical island of Eorzea’s New World.
During the keynote presentation, Director Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, expressed his unwavering dedication to the game, stating his intention to work on it until he dies or even afterward. The adventure of Dawntrail will take place in Tural, a distant land to the west of Eorzea. Players will participate in a rite of succession, competing for the opportunity to determine Tural’s next ruler. However, this contest may introduce divisions among the Scions, adding an intriguing twist to the story.
One of the highlights of the expansion is Tuliyollal, the new hub city located in the diverse region of Yok Tural. Players can expect to encounter new allied tribes such as the Pelupelu, while also enjoying new additions like a level cap increase, new jobs, dungeons, enemies, gear, recipes, and lifestyle content. Additionally, the 7.0 patch will bring enhanced graphics to the game, elevating the visuals of the environments and characters.
Square Enix also announced an expansion of the free trial version, which now includes all content from Heavensward to the start of Shadowbringers. This will allow more players to experience the vast world of Final Fantasy XIV. In an exciting surprise, Phil Spencer, Xbox’s head, joined Yoshi-P on stage to announce that the game will finally be making its way to Xbox consoles. Furthermore, a crossover with Fall Guys is also in the works.
The Dawntrail expansion is expected to be released in Summer 2024 and will be available on PS4, PS5, and PC. Final Fantasy XIV fans can look forward to embarking on a thrilling new adventure, exploring the captivating world of Tural, and enjoying a plethora of exciting new features and content.
