Dark and Darker Finds New Release on Chaf Games After Steam Removal | Gametides

After its removal from Steam earlier this year, Ironmace’s PvPvE fantasy game Dark and Darker has found a new home in early access on indie gaming storefront Chaf Games.

In late March, Dark and Darker was pulled from Steam following a cease and desist and a DMCA takedown. However, despite legal issues, Ironmace continued to distribute the game on Discord and even held a playtest in April.

Before its removal from Steam, Ironmace faced further challenges when Korean officials searched their offices on suspicion of possessing stolen game assets and code. Shortly after, Nexon filed a lawsuit against Ironmace for copyright infringement, resulting in the developer starting a GoFundMe campaign to cover legal fees.

In a recent announcement on Discord, Ironmace explained that they were unable to support Dark and Darker in Korea for the early access launch due to awaiting a rating from the Korean Game Rating Board (GRAC). However, the game has already obtained ratings from other globally recognized game rating boards, such as the ESRB, PEGI, and CERO. Ironmace expressed their commitment to officially supporting and servicing the game in Korea once the rating hurdle is overcome.

While the game’s release on Chaf Games marks a fresh start for Dark and Darker, it remains to be seen how it will fare on this Steam competitor. Players can also download the game from Dark and Darker’s official website.

Dark and Darker’s journey has been filled with obstacles and legal battles, but Ironmace has persevered, ensuring that players can still experience their PvPvE fantasy world. The release on Chaf Games offers a new opportunity for the game to thrive and gather a dedicated player base.
