Mac users who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to play Baldur’s Gate III can rejoice, as Larian Studios has announced that the full version of the game will be available for Mac on September 21. Previously, Mac users had access to a limited, early access version of the game, which only allowed them to play the first act with a cap of approximately 25 hours of gameplay.
However, the upcoming release will grant Mac gamers the chance to continue their adventure beyond the initial act and explore the intriguing Moonrise Towers, where secrets are waiting to be uncovered in the third act of the game.
Baldur’s Gate III initially made its debut on Windows PCs on August 3, followed by a release on the PlayStation 5 earlier this month. While it remains exclusively available on the PS5 for consoles, this is not due to a deal struck with Sony Entertainment. Instead, Larian Studios encountered a technical hurdle that prevented them from simultaneously releasing the game on Xbox.
The obstacle arose from Microsoft’s requirement for developers to ensure game features are consistent across both the Series S and Series X. Unfortunately, Larian Studios faced difficulties implementing the game’s split-screen cooperative feature on the less powerful Series S. However, after a meeting with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, the developer was granted permission to release Baldur’s Gate III on the Series S, albeit without the split-screen functionality.
Furthermore, the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate III will offer cross-save progression between Steam and the two Xbox consoles. Although an exact release date for the Xbox version has yet to be announced, players can expect it to arrive before the end of the year, offering an exciting opportunity to delve into the captivating world of Baldur’s Gate III.
