Discovering the Walled Metropolis of Akila City in Starfield | Gametides

Starfield’s Akila City is a rugged and established faction hub within the Starfield universe. It is one of the four main cities in the game, alongside New Atlantis and Neon City. In this guide, we will take a closer look at Akila City and what it has to offer players.

Founded in 2167, Akila City is famous for being the home of the Freestar Collective, a faction that fought against the United Colonies in the Narion and Colony wars. The city is also known for its massive protective walls. These walls serve a crucial purpose – keeping out the deadly alien predator species called the Ashta, which are described as a cross between a wolf and a velociraptor.

According to Emil Pagliarulo, the lead designer on Starfield, Akila City is a sanctuary for individuals who value personal freedom and individuality. The city is populated by a diverse range of people united by this common belief.

While Akila City may appear compact compared to New Atlantis, it offers a wide range of activities and locations for players to explore. In the showcased footage, three vendors can be spotted in the entrance hub: The Hitching, a tavern; Shepherd’s General Store, a shop for odds and ends; and Rowland Arms, a shop specializing in weaponry.

Unsurprisingly, Akila City is located on the planet of Akila within the Cheyenne system. As the capital city of the Freestar Collective, it serves as a hub for this loose confederation of three star systems.

As of now, the companions within the Freestar Collective faction have not been revealed. However, players can expect to encounter a diverse cast of characters within this faction.

This guide provides a glimpse into Akila City, but there’s much more to discover in Starfield. From exploring the vast map to creating your own character and building bases, the game offers a plethora of immersive experiences.
