Once you make it to Rivington in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are numerous more quests to discover. One of these quests has you heading out to find missing letters after something intercepted some courier pigeons. You can nab this quest after speaking to Danzo at the Sword Coast Courier building. While this quest is quite short, it may be confusing if you don’t know where to look. Let’s go over where to find these missing letters in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Although this quest doesn’t tell you exactly where to look, your map will show you an area to start, which is in the vicinity of the building. Where you can find the missing letters in Baldur’s Gate 3 ends up being at the Open Hand Temple, but let me explain how you get to that conclusion.

Head upstairs to the second floor of the office, and you’ll spot a few pigeons sitting around. I recommend having someone who can cast Speak with Animals. My Druid character was able to cast this, and I spoke to one of the pigeons. After having a conversation with this pigeon, I had him give me information on what happened to the other pigeons. He’ll tell you that something flanked them on the rooftop close by.

This rooftop ends up being the Open Hand Temple’s roof, and now you need to find a way up. There’s an easy way, and a slightly-tougher way to get on top of the roof. During my playthrough, I chose the latter, and ended up finding out later that there was an easier way. Right outside the kitchens of the temple, you should see some knotted roots to climb. Personally, I just climbed up the bell tower, then used the Fly spell to safely land on the roof.

No matter which way you get on the roof, you’ll see a nest with a flying cat. Yes, you heard me right. For some reason, Speak with Animals wasn’t on, perhaps because I now had the Fly spell on me. So I didn’t get to learn much about this cat. If you have Gale in your party though, he’ll let you know that her name is Tara, who is a Tressym. She’s an old friend of Gale, and you’ll enjoy a unique conversation with them.

Otherwise, you’ll want to find a way to get the letters from Tara. I did an Animal Handling check, and was able to grab the letters without a fuss. Now, you can head back to the Sword Coast Courier, and give the letters back for a nice reward! You’re welcome to read the letters yourself before handing them back, although you were told not to read them. This then allows you to intimidate Danzo for more rewards.
