Activision Addressing Controversial 'Activate Premium Battle Pass' Button in Diablo 4 | Gametides

Diablo 4 has faced its fair share of player controversies, but the latest source of frustration comes from the game’s ‘Activate Premium Battle Pass’ button. Players have criticized this feature as ‘malicious design’ due to its placement and lack of confirmation option.

The Diablo 4 development team recently discussed upcoming updates, including inventory improvements and Sorceress changes. However, these announcements have not eased players’ concerns about the problematic battle pass button.

For players who purchased the ultimate edition of Diablo 4, the accelerated Battle Pass was included. The issue arose when players accidentally activated the premium Battle Pass due to the button’s proximity to the menu default position. Since there was no confirmation prompt, several players mistook it for a misclick and expressed their disappointment.

A Reddit user shared their frustration, mentioning the absence of precautionary measures for accidental activations. They condemned the feature, stating that it solely exists to take advantage of misclicks. The user also shared examples of players unintentionally redeeming the premium Battle Pass, including a clip from content creator Rurikhan who described the button’s placement as ‘malicious design.’

In response to the backlash, Activision, the publisher of Diablo 4, has acknowledged the issue and promised a fix. They stated that the default cursor position in the Seasons menu for controller users will be changed to no longer default to the premium Battle Pass. Additionally, a confirmation pop-up will be introduced when activating the premium Battle Pass.

Blizzard, the developer of Diablo 4, has yet to comment on the matter. As more information becomes available, this article will be updated.

Apart from this controversy, Diablo 4 has also addressed other concerns such as toning down the difficulty of the Nightmare Dungeon and players’ requests for clearer World Boss notifications.
