Rumors of Borderlands 4 being in development have sprung up again, as an actor listed working on the game in their online resume. While that credit has been deleted, actor Angie Jho Lee caught the attention of Borderlands fans (via Reddit) with a “Voice Over” section on her CV that listed Borderlands 4 and her role as “Aiyumi” in that rumored game.
In another deleted listing, producer Nadia Danova also mentioned having worked on Borderlands 4 on their LinkedIn ahead of a 2023 release for the game, although it’s worth noting that this was two years ago when they were employed at developer MoGi Group back in 2021.
Back in 2021, Gearbox co-founder and boss Randy Pitchford began asking online for skilled developers to join the company for a Borderlands-related job. “We are definitely working on some amazing stuff that, I hope, will surprise and delight you,” Pitchford tweeted. “If anyone out there has Skills-To-Pay-Bills and wants to get in on some Borderlands action, we’re working on the big one.”
The Borderlands franchise has been quite active since Gearbox was acquired by Embracer Entertainment in 2021, the same year Borderlands 4 rumors started surfacing. Since then, a number of Borderlands-related projects have been published. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands arrived in 2022 and put a fantasy spin on the Borderlands formula, New Tales from the Borderlands was released that same year, and The Borderlands Compilation: Pandora’s Box was recently rated by the Film and Publication Board of South Africa.
Genvid Entertainment and Gearbox also announced Borderlands EchoVision Live, an interactive streaming series, in July, and the live-action Borderlands feature film that has been in development for years has been described as “wacky” by star Jamie Lee Curtis.
