Disney is set to raise the prices of its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, in the US starting from October 12th.
Disney+ Premium will see a 20% increase, going from $11 to $14 per month. Hulu without ads will experience an even larger jump, rising from $15 to $17.99 per month.
Existing customers can still subscribe to a combined bundle of Disney+ and Hulu ad-free services for $20 a month.
This marks the second price increase for Disney+ in less than a year. Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that the goal is to better reflect the value of their content offerings.
In addition to the price hikes, Disney is considering a potential crackdown on password-sharing, following in the footsteps of Netflix.
Disney’s recent underperforming films in 2023 have led to the need for increased profitability and strategic adjustments in their streaming business.
