As you’re playing Baldur’s Gate 3 and facing challenging foes, you’ll quickly realize that strategy and using every resource at your disposal is crucial to staying alive. One health potion, extra spell, or even an elixir can be the difference between life or death for your party, especially if you’re struggling with your attack rolls. However, if you want to plan ahead, it’s important to know how long your effects last and whether you must constantly replace them. If you are curious, continue reading to learn how long elixirs last in Baldur’s Gate 3.
In BG3, elixirs last until your party takes a long rest at your camp. In other words, you can keep your elixir effects until you return to your campsite and sleep for the night. They can potentially last forever!
However, since long rests are crucial to regaining spell slots and HP, you’ll likely return to camp at some point in your playthrough. Until then, enjoy your long-lasting buffs!
If you want to check out more details about your elixir and its duration, you can hover over its tooltip icon next to your character’s avatar on the left side of your screen.
While elixirs can potentially last a while, depending on when you go for your next long rest, the same can’t be said for potions. Many potions only last a few turns, while healing potions are instant. Generally speaking, though, if the mixture has “elixir” in the name, you can bet that it will stay until you hit the hay for the night.
